Only Thelonious

2017 marks the centenary of one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time – Thelonious Monk. Born in North Carolina in 1917, Monk became known as a pioneering jazz pianist with a unique style and gained recognition as a highly respected jazz composer, perhaps second only to Duke Ellington.

This year the Ed Puddick Big Band present their own tribute to Monk in a new project called ‘Only Thelonious’. Band-leader Ed Puddick has created innovative new arrangements of 18 of Monk’s most well-known compositions, including “Panonica”, “I Mean You”, “Ruby, My Dear”, “Round Midnight”, “Well You Needn’t” and “In Walked Bud”.
