Two up-coming gigs in the North West
Summer 2015 is hotting up with two performances of Ed Puddick’s music in the North West of England.
First, on Sunday 21st June at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, the massed choirs of the Greater Manchester Music Hub will be joined by the Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra to perform Ed’s epic World War One Centenary work “Secret Music”. This piece was first performed in the Royal Albert Hall on Armistice Day 2014. For more information and tickets please visit the Bridgewater Hall website.
Less than a month later, the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra will be premiering “Million Dollar Bill” in their concert as part of the Wigan International Jazz Festival. Ed has written several charts for this high-achieving big band, of which this Billy Strayhorn tribute is probably the most challenging. David Little will conduct the performance which will also include Clifford Brown and Stand Getz tributes “with strings” featuring Paul Booth (tenor sax) and Ryan Quigley (trumpet). For full details please visit the Wigan International Jazz Festival website.
Later in the year another major work by Ed Puddick (this time for string quintet and jazz piano) will receive it’s premiere. This performance will be at the Colchester Arts Centre in October. More details will follow soon so please keep visiting the website and facebook page.
