WYJO perform Saratoga Springs

The award-winning Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra have been performing Ed’s latest composition ‘Saratoga Springs’ in their recent gigs at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Wigan Jazz Festival. Videos have already been posted on YouTube so check out some great playing by these young musicians by clicking here. At the Wigan Jazz Festival the band were joined by star Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, who chose to play trombone on Saratoga Springs!

Following the success of Saratoga Springs, WYJO have asked Ed to write a suite to celebrate the centenary of Gil Evans’ birth. Performances of this major new work are being organised for the end of 2012 and full details will appear on this site so keep an eye out for gigs near you.

Ed Puddick Band nominated for award

This Saturday, July 14th 2012, Ed Puddick will be leading a quintet at the Marlborough jazz festival in Wiltshire. This groups comprises musicians who have played with the Ed Puddick Big Band in recent years, including Ant Law on guitar, George Crowley on tenor saxophone, Percy Pursglove on bass and Les Cirkel on drums. This group have been nominated for the Brewin Dolphin ‘best newcomer’ award. Anyone can vote by clicking here so get all your friends and family to vote for this superb group today!
